Guitar shred show is one of those playful websites we bump into time to time, have you got some spare time? just go and jam with Mr Fast Fingers guitar session, but be aware, you must defeat the devil and play on your own... this site rocks -literally speaking-. It is also remarkable the work in Macromedia Flash to develop this piece. Play here .

Once a junky, always a junky

‘Junk is not, like alcohol or weed, a means to increased enjoyment of life. Junk is not a kick. It is a way of life’ states William Burroughs in ‘Junkie, confessions of an unredeemed Drug Addict' , credited to William Lee in its first edition in 1953. (pictured on the left hand side). In ‘Junky’ –the final title of the book, this time credited to William S Burroughs- Burroughs depicts in a raw way what is to be a heroin addict like, I just found very interesting how the story grips the reader from page number one till the last word. ‘Why does an addict get a new habit so much quicker than a virgin, even after the addict has been cleaned for years? I do not accept the theory that junk is lurking in the body al the time –the spine is where it supposedly holes up- and I disagree with all psychological answers. Once a junky, always a junky. You can stop using junk, but you are never off after the first habit’ writes WB later on. I think raw may be the proper word to catalogu

when you are old

When You Are Old When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crowd of stars. by William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

joanna newsom

Oh Dear... this is one of those things that make us keep the faith in beauty. Joanna Newsom is an American harpist, pianist, harpsichordist, singer and songwriter from Nevada City, California. Besides her solo material she has played on records by Smog, Vetiver, Nervous Cop, Scott Indrisek, Vashti Bunyan and Golden Shoulders and played keyboards for The Pleased . In the radioblog I have loaded some music by Joanna Newsom and also a couple of songs by Smog... Those tracks are the dog's bollocks . Here there is the video of the song 'SwanSea'. full version here Swansea -lyrics- If you want to come on down, down with your bones so white, And watch the freight trains pound into the wild, wild night How I would love to gnaw, gnaw on your bones so white, and watch as the freight trains paw, paw at the wild, wild night. All these ghost towns, wreathed in old loam (Assateague knee-deep in seafoam)- Ho Swansea! Buttonwillow! Lagunitas! Ho Calico! And all these beastly bungalows

THE BLACK MESSENGERS by cesar vallejo

César Abraham Vallejo Mendoza (March 16, 1892 – April 15, 1938) was a Peruvian poet. Although during his lifetime he published only three books of poetry, he is nonetheless considered one of the great poetic innovators of the 20th century. Always a step ahead of the literary currents, each of his books was distinct from the others and, in its own sense, revolutionary. "...As of Peruvian poetry, for me, Vallejo is extraordinary. Yes, he is ours, and besides, he was a Communist," said President Gonzalo. José Carlos Mariátegui, the founder of the PCP, considered Vallejo to be "an absolute creator." Cesar Vallejo, the poet, the militant, the Communist, is being remembered by the proletariat and the people in the 106th anniversary of his birth. read more. And for me IMHO, Vallejo is perhaps the one of the better Latin-American poets. poems here . God I feel that God is traveling so much in me, with the dusk and the sea. With him we go along together. HIgh Connection + Oliverio girondo

Looking for a good poem I came across this poem written by Argentinean Oliverio Girondo. I don't give a darn if women's breasts are like magnolias or like dried figs; a complexion like a peach or like sandpaper. Importance equal to zero I give to whether they awake with a breath like an aphrodisiac or a breath like insecticide. I am perfectly capable of bearing a nose that would take first prize at a carrot show; but one thing is for sure! And this is irreducible. Under no pretext whatsoever will I forgive them for not knowing how to fly. Any one of them who doesn't know how to fly is wasting her time trying to seduce me! This was – and none other – the reason that I fell in love, so madly, with María Luisa. What did I care about her lips in installments and her sulfurous jealousies? What did I care about her web-footed extremities and her looks that withheld judgment? María Luisa was truly light as a feather! From daybreak on, she flew from the bedroom to the kitch

Tayrona national park

' I've never been as instantly impressed by a beach as I was the moment I set eyes on Tayrona. After a 40-minute hike through the forest, I was expecting to see a classic Caribbean beach, all white sand and calm turquoise water, perhaps a few cabanas for the tourists.' writes Gavin McOwan in the Guardian on Friday February 16 2007 . It is not chauvinism but it was quite interesting to bump into this review... read the whole article.

Happy new year pigs

Mmm it seems that it has been a very busy week in terms of celebrations and such. Firstly the horrible Tuesday 13th (which for Spanish descendants - I hate to say that!-) corresponds to the Friday 13th in the Anglos-axon cultures (and God's knows anywhere else), then Valentine's day which I spent enjoying myself at home during the day and at night working and staring at nice couples holding hands, snogging and delivering a mockery of love... boring!!! to top it up with 18th of February, the New Year in the Chinese calendar. According to the Chinese calendar Pigs are all whose have been born in 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007. Also the are believed to be models of sincerity, purity, tolerance, and honor. When you first meet them, Pigs seem too good to be true. They are careful and caring, obliging and chivalrous. Put your trust in him, he won't let you down and he will never try to. The Pigs simply want to do everything right. Pigs are the people everyone admire

sunsets with Gonca

I have and enemy, it resides inside myself, I shall fight it but, Yes!!! Gonca said. Gonca... flower bud... I remember the sunsets in the south... the sun, red, fat, knackered, dragging down, and you and my enemy and I, staring at it until our pale, white-blueish gal crowned the universe, and the cigarettes awaited for us, down there in by the sea, Yeah Gonca, I'm still fighting the enemy, yours and mine but now on my own, but now chaffed, but now faded, pale, and alone. Right Gonca! where've you gone?, Godness Muslim. Gonca. Let us see again the sun, redish, fat and alone, release its light upon our face, and the face of the enemy and myself and you. Gonca where have you been, where've you gone? I am still fighting but, I know I will be defeated.

when i am a king

Demian5 , a webcomic artist from Switzerland, is most famous for his When I Am King , the story of a sexually deviant camel and the recently de-pantsed king of Egypt on a quest to find love and trousers. The whole comic was created and published electronically; Demian used mostly Adobe programs Photoshop, Illustrator and ImageReady to draw the comic and create animation. He used the web's "infinite canvas" to convey a sense of space. Displaying an interesting screen design, navigation, poignant illustrations as well as a brilliant narrative when I am a king is a worth looking tale to hang around for a while.

heartsnatcher

Author, singer, songwriter, playwright and lifelong jazz fan, Boris Vian was a legendary figure in Paris in the post-war years. Vian, who died at the age of 39, left an indelible mark on France's intellectual and artistic life and his avant-garde music, novels and comic sketches continue to inspire a whole generation of fans more than 40 years after his death. "In descriptions so richly imagined that he sometimes has to invent new words, Boris Vian brings to life the strange world discovered by a wandering traveler, Timortis, a psychiatrist who wants to "psychiatrize." Timortis has been born an adult and has no memories of his own. An "empty vessel," he believes that if he can learn everything there is to know about someone, he can bring about a transference of identity and make his own life more complete. He is wandering in search of people who will bare their souls and all their memories... " more . Buy his books. Hurry up!!

Tarnation: a master piece.

"At the age of eleven, TARNATION director Jonathan Caouette borrowed a neighbor¹s video camera and began documenting his daily life, interrogating his family members and making short films to escape the drama of his everyday existence. Caouette utilized six different cameras over the years, including Super-8, Betamax, VHS, Hi-8 and Mini-DV , with which he shot the bulk of the footage that appears in TARNATION . In addition, he compiled still photographs, archived answering machine messages and audiocassette diaries - all of which documented the details of his tumultuous life. As a self-proclaimed pack rat, Caouette saved what turned out to be 160 hours of personal recorded materials in a wide range of different video and audio formats, spanning over twenty years. When considered as a whole, these materials offer a devastating, yet mesmerizing portrait of a troubled American family. The footage includes unsettling domestic situations, unique dramatic performances (by a pre-teen

What a writer, Gentlemen!!!

Back home, on holiday, I finally found out “ Putas asesinas ” by Roberto Bolano (advised months ago by Kerlames ). Just to mention three stories I was astonished with, “ El retorno ”; the story of a ghost and, “ Putas asesinas ” and “ Bubba ”, a tale of a South American, an African and a Spaniard football players and their adventurous journey in a top class team in Spain… Bolano is a versatile writer; whose combine a good sense of humour, superb imagination and wild narrative that gets anyone from the very first page. Here there is a fragment of Bubba . (Spanish language). For English speakers check this out.

This time next year we'll be millionaires!

Perhaps is not there anything more Londoner that “ Only fool and horses ” is it? A bunch of superb characters, amongst them, Derek Edward Trotter “ Del Boy ” the fast-talking, quick thinking bussiness man, his “little” brother Rodney Trotter and their Grandad living in the southern suburbs of Peckam Rye , driving a three wheels van and trying to survive by cheating and bribing people on the streets markets. “Only fool and horses” is without doubt the best British T.V. comedy ever. See more here . It is characteristic of this series the use of cockney and slang language. Expressions like “ Lovely Jubbly ”, “ plonker ” and “ wally ” became commonly used after the show. A little guide of cockney used in the series is here . Here there is a little video of –in my humble opinion- the best sketch ever performed by David Jason (Del boy) and Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney)… enjoy it… 100% worth to watch.

Saul Bass

Saul Bass is well known as the creator of a series of remarkable credits for film and TV. Check this site out. "My initial thoughts about what a title can do was to set mood and the prime underlying core of the film's story, to express the story in some metaphorical way. I saw the title as a way of conditioning the audience, so that when the film actually began, viewers would already have an emotional resonance with it." Saul Bass.
